As our residents participated in creating these unique handmade bracelets, they experienced positive socialization and connections, an improvement in self-image, a discovery of their gifts and ability to create and participation in meaningful activity.

The SHARP Foundation’s primary objective is to encourage and support the individuals we serve, to live with dignity and receive compassionate and understanding care. Creating trusting and essential relationships ensures that our residents do not experience isolation and do experience improve health outcomes.
During 2021, The SHARP Foundation created a small little project to encourage residents to participate in skill building, community service and outreach activities. Bracelets and Dream Catchers were the crafts that residents learned how to make and design. Residents ware able to chose from a variety of stones with a variety of meanings. Residents chose stones that appealed to them thus creating a genuine handmade piece of art.
The community service project involved our residents cleaning up in city parks close to each building on a weekly basis, as well as picking up garbage in the alleys behind Murray’s House and Croydon and around each neighbourhood. Residents enjoyed being active in the warmer days and felt a great sense of pride cleaning up around their neighbourhoods.
The outreach program involved residents taking basic essentials to individuals who are still experiencing homelessness. Our residents engage with peers and ensure that they get items that are essential, food, mitts, toques, naloxone kits and conversation. Our residents enjoy giving back to those who need the support our residents once did when they were experiencing homelessness.
All of these programs created the experience of satisfaction of helping others, discovering their gifts, discovering their capacity to give back, improving their self-image and creating positive connections and community.
