Ashley's Volunteer Story

Picture

My name is Ashley and I’m one of the volunteers that works with The SHARP Foundation. I’ve spent my first two months primarily working with the clients and staff at the PK house and it has truly been nothing short of completely lovely and rewarding this far!

For as long as I can remember I’ve been passionate about giving back to the community and really just doing whatever I can to be a positive and helpful force to anyone in need. Volunteering with SHARP has given me a platform to be able to make genuine and meaningful relationships not only with the clients but also with the staff who seem to work endlessly to make this foundation so successful. My time thus far has largely been spent playing games and watching movies with the ladies at the PK house as well as doing some simple baking and the typical “girly” stuff such as painting nails, talking about hair and makeup and just hanging around drinking tea and talking about everything and anything. When starting as a volunteer with SHARP, I guess I could say my expectation was to dive in and be an energetic member of the team helping out wherever I was needed but it’s been much more extraordinary so far. It has been a quick couple months and I really do look forward to seeing where the next several months at SHARP lead me.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff and clients who have made me feel so comfortable and welcomed so quickly. It’s been a blast.

-Ashley
