Our Model of Work

The SHARP philosophy is to maintain or enhance quality of life by providing non-judgmental housing, providing safety and security for our clients, and reducing risk behaviors preventing further transmission of HIV in the community or deemed to be at risk of contracting HIV.

SHARP’S primary objective is to allow the people we serve to live independently with dignity for as long as possible, but also provide the supports to decrease isolation and improve health outcomes.

Just as each person is unique, SHARP uses a strength based and medical approach to case management in order to meet the challenges and demand of population in which we serve.

Currently, SHARP operates five programs located in various Calgary residential neighbourhoods which provide affordable housing as well as medical and psycho-social needs.

But, what makes SHARP so unique is it two existing models of care which consists of independent housing for residents who demonstrate a need for individualized programming, and our two 24/7 care facility which provide integrated care for those with complex health and higher demand of care.

In 2018, the SHARP Foundation partnered with Calgary Homeless Foundation to open a new care facility named Murray’s House to provide 24/7 integrated care as well as decrease isolation and improve health outcomes for highly acuity persons.
Murray's House includes 22 bachelor units as well as a palliative care suite, and serves those who are chronically homeless and need health supports to live independently with dignity in a safe non-judgmental environment.
In the spirit of respect and reconciliation, The SHARP Foundation acknowledges that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and  all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
