Volunteering

Picture

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we have suspended the recruitment of volunteers - we will update this when we are able to host fund raising activities and are able to allow guests in our facilities.
We could not do what we do without the help and support of our amazing volunteers! At the SHARP Foundation, volunteers are the engine to our organization, and the volunteer program allows SHARP to be incredible organization that it is today.

Volunteer Opportunities
We have numerous volunteer opportunities for everyone to get involved, and here are the following ways to make a meaningful impact:

-Continuing Connections
Do you like meeting new people, getting to know someone’s story, being a friend of one or many? Provide one to one companionship, laughs and accompaniment to one of our residents through fun activities like bowling, going to movies, art classes, playing cards, baking, or just visiting.

-Leisure Recreation
Do you like meeting new people, being a friend of one or many? Going to the movies, coffee mornings/afternoons, art and craft classes, baking, Tai Chi and BBQs are just some of the fun events volunteers attend with small groups of up to four residents.

-Fund Development
Help raise funds through events such as  casinos as well as helping to secure auction items and solicit corporate sponsorships.

-Peer Potentials
Role model healthy relationships for adults living with HIV by facilitating group meetings, assisting in program development, and acting as a positive resource.

-Office Duties/Media and Communications
Discover the many opportunities to contribute to the foundation of the organization. This can range from filing and writing thank you letters to preparing our internal and external newsletters (writing articles, editing, mailing).

-Event Planners and Assistants
SHARP participates in  Calgary Marathon, Bowls for Beswick, Calgary PRIDE and more. We also participate in events with our partners that promote education and research. We look for volunteers to help coordinate, plan or help out and most importantly have fun at events!

If you are interested in any of these opportunities please get in touch with our Human Resources Operations Manager -Mariana Nimara by phone: 403-272-2912- Extension 2 or by email: m.nimara@thesharpfoundation.com

All interested volunteers are requested to complete a volunteer application which can be found by clicking the following volunteer application button.
