Our care facilities and programs at SHARP provide support with which we are able to address concerns in an effective manner, but most importantly help those with HIV make positive choices for their future.
Just as each person is unique, each person’s experience with HIV is unique, therefore no patient can be treated with the exact same methods as another. Some factors with which we evaluate care for a patient are:
Current state of well-being
Social support availability
Physical health limitations and disabilities
Age is also a factor we take into consideration as secondary diagnoses such as cancer or Parkinson’s disease are common with the ageing of the patient.
Generally, when individuals diagnosed with HIV come to SHARP, they have lost the ability to fully care for themselves. Our 24/7 caregivers at the various facilities provide support - from administrating medications to organizing meals for residents. All in all, our caregivers assist residents wherever necessary.
